This Cookie Policy explains how Ciphercup Technologies Pvt Ltd (“Ciphercup”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on ciphercup.com. It describes which cookies we use, why we use them, how long they last and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. They allow the website to recognise your browser on later page views or visits, so that it can, for example, keep you logged in, remember what is in your shopping cart or remember your preferences.
Cookies can be described in a few ways:
- First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting (here, ciphercup.com). Third-party cookies are set by a different domain, for example an embedded service.
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
Similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and scripts, can work in a similar way. In this policy, “cookies” includes these technologies where relevant.
2. How we use cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. Our website is built on WordPress and uses WooCommerce for our shop, Wordfence and WP Hide & Security Enhancer for security, and CookieYes to manage your consent. The cookies these tools set are mainly needed to:
- keep the website secure and protect it from attacks, spam and fraud;
- let customers log in to their account and stay logged in;
- remember the items in your shopping cart and complete checkout;
- remember your cookie consent choices;
- remember your name and email if you choose to save them when leaving a blog comment.
We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, retargeting or other analytics or marketing cookies. If we decide to use such tools in future, we will update this policy and the cookie banner, and those cookies will only be set after you give your consent.
3. Cookie categories
3.1 Necessary
These cookies are essential for the website to function and to be secure. They enable core features such as security, account log-in, the shopping cart, checkout and remembering your consent choices. Because the website cannot work properly without them, they do not require consent, but you can block them in your browser settings, which may cause parts of the website to stop working.
3.2 Functional
These cookies remember choices you make to give you a more convenient experience, such as your details for future comments or your WordPress dashboard preferences. They are set only when you use the related feature.
3.3 Analytics
Analytics cookies help website owners understand how visitors use a website, for example which pages are most popular. Not currently used. If used in future, they will be set only with your consent.
3.4 Marketing / advertising
Marketing cookies track browsing across websites to show relevant advertising or measure campaigns. Not currently used. If used in future, they will be set only with your consent.
4. Cookies used on this website
The table below lists the cookies that may be set on ciphercup.com. Some cookies are only set for logged-in users or when you use a specific feature. Wordfence also records IP addresses and request details in security logs, which are not cookies. These are described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Third-party content and services
- Unsplash images: photographs on our website are loaded from Unsplash’s content delivery network (images.unsplash.com). When your browser requests an image, Unsplash receives your IP address and browser user-agent, as with any content delivery network. These requests are made to show the images and are handled by Unsplash under its own privacy policy.
- WhatsApp: our click-to-chat link opens Meta’s WhatsApp service in a new window or the WhatsApp app. No WhatsApp cookies are set on our website until you click the link; once you do, Meta’s own cookie and privacy policies apply.
- Payment gateways: when you pay for a service package, you may be redirected to a payment gateway’s page, which may set its own cookies for security and fraud prevention under its own policies.
- Social media links: links to our profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) and Pinterest are simple links, not embedded widgets, so these platforms do not set cookies through our website unless you visit them.
6. How consent works on our website
We use CookieYes, a consent management tool, to show a cookie banner when you first visit our website. The banner explains our use of cookies and lets you:
- Accept all cookie categories;
- Reject all non-necessary cookies; or
- Customise your choices by category.
Necessary cookies are always active because the website needs them to function securely. Any non-necessary cookies are blocked until you give consent for that category. Your choice is saved in the cookieyes-consent cookie, together with a random consent ID, so that we do not ask you on every page. We ask again when the consent cookie expires after 12 months, if you clear your cookies, or if we make significant changes to the cookies we use.
Rejecting non-necessary cookies will not stop you using our website, contacting us or buying from our shop.
7. Changing your preferences
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, and it is as easy as giving it:
- Scroll to the footer of any page on ciphercup.com.
- Click the “Cookie Settings” link.
- Switch individual categories on or off, or choose “Reject all”, and save your preferences.
Changes take effect immediately for future page views. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before it was withdrawn. To remove cookies that were already set, you can also clear cookies in your browser.
8. Browser controls
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. You can usually find these options in your browser’s settings under “Privacy”, “Security” or “Site data”. For example:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies / Site settings.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari (Mac and iPhone): Settings or Preferences > Privacy.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
Please note that if you block all cookies, including necessary ones, you may not be able to log in, add services to your cart or complete checkout. Some browsers also support Global Privacy Control signals; where technically possible, we treat these as a request to opt out of any non-necessary cookies. For general help, your browser’s support pages and Google Help provide step-by-step guidance.
9. Legal basis and your rights
We set necessary cookies because they are required to provide the website and services you request and to keep them secure, which is a legitimate use under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and is permitted without consent under the EU and UK ePrivacy rules. We will set any analytics or marketing cookies only on the basis of your consent, in line with the DPDP Act and the GDPR. California residents should note that we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
For more information about your rights, including how to contact our Grievance Officer, please see our Privacy Policy.
10. Updates to this policy
We review this Cookie Policy when we add, remove or change plugins or services on our website, and at least once a year. When we update it, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we introduce new categories of cookies that require consent, such as analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie banner before setting them.
